As some of you have figured out, I try to avoid describing my drawings as much as possible. However, There is a story behind this one.

In October 2005 Gregory Hixon was deployed to Taji, Iraq. Leaving behind all of his friends, family, and loved ones. In early April he asked the love of his life, Samantha, to marry him. No words can describe what they must be feeling. She is patiently waiting for his return so they can start their life together. Gregory is supposed to return January 1, 2008. Please pray for his safe return.

This drawing is dedicated to anyone who has been separated from a loved one.



Somebody once told me that the only way to find something you can‘t see was to take it away. I found that to be true from the time you left my side. It’s hard to remember exactly how you felt molded and shaped against me, all I can tell you is that during those moments I felt whole. The sorrow I feel when you aren’t with me is almost unbearable. The thought of your hands against my face and your lips against mine are daily reminders of how painful your absence is. Though we shared only a moment in time together, true love became real, and not only a mere fairy tale in my mind. I hope to stay in this picture forever, just you and me for all time. The day when you will hold me in your arms and tell me that everything is all right.
